Last 13 April 2009, about time of 2200, my motherboard (mobo) has burn out one of its capacitor. Which computer? My AMD Athlon 4600+ with Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4, the processor is not a problem; just that motherboard had burn out. The failure point is one of the capacitor which closed to the one of PCI-E, but not affected the graphic card. What the hell??? I’m running out of time to update some drawing for portfolio review…

my motherboard - red box is damn shit

There is two options, running to Low Yat and find the same motherboard or running to my sister house just to borrow her computer. A friend of my told me, “Find the same motherboard, which you will need not to format anymore. Just running back the system” Due to that reason, I take the first one, but my motherboard is out of stock. Of course, since that computer is almost 2 years. I’m running out of time and money, just going back in a heavy raining day with the burning in my heart.

I need to use one other computer, the old computer just to ‘help’ me at the night. Just like an old car with the bulky 15” CRT screen. Damn.

Tomorrow, no option anymore, just buy one other motherboard to running back the system, with the amount  of money left, the Asus M2N68-AM Plus is the only choice, just RM 180 and capable enough for that ‘old’ AMD dual core. What the interesting is, after the ‘transplant’ of that motherboard, the system just running as normal, but you only need to install the driver only. YES… My friends theory is damn shit, if I choose to buy earlier, I just half day earlier that that day. It’s ok since the application inside the system can be used, the application is; Microsoft Window XP SP3, Microsoft Office 2007, AutoCAD 2008, Artlantis Studio 2, Google SketchUp Pro 6, Adobe Illustrator CS3, Adobe Photoshop CS3, and Adobe Indesign CS3. All that application is what I just need at that time.

But, as a user, I already know that if I send my motherboard for guarantee, the Gigabyte will said that “the mobo is burn, no guaranty for that cases” since I already face that situation during my hard disk burning at 2008.

The Gigabyte will say that the solid capacitor is good technology and last longer, as user I said that just a bull shit for marketing purposes. The S4 is for; SLI, Speed, Smart and Safe. All first 3 is real, I feel that just for the final one SAFE just a fucking shit. That motherboard during that time is about RM 500, just 2 year and burn out.

So to all users outside there, just thinking first before you buy, I don’t truss the Gigabyte anymore, and the evidence is here, one failure point in the time of submission. You will be crazy, and maybe this is the architectural madness.
