My computer has been done such ‘renovation’ and modification lately. The casing is still the same, and old school style of black solid aluminium. The reality inside had a lot modification has been done. I don’t have a proper price but I do have some photos.

The basic system is still my processor; AMD Athlon X2 4600+ (but now no overclocking has been done). The only thing inside the casing that has no changes is just a processor. Other is already changing to the new one, but not in one time, in a few periods. Let’s start one by one.

The motherboard; original is Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4. Now is Asus M2N68-AM Plus. Both are not good enough. The Gigabyte just burn one of the capacitor, nearby the PCI-E slot, and the Asus is just a pre-entry motherboard, not much modification can be done. I bought the Asus since there is financial problem at that time, and still intend to change it for XFX.

The graphic card: original is Gigabyte 7300GT. Now is XFX 9800GT. This is one of radical change for me, since I’m not perfect gamer that needs such a powerful graphic card. On gaming hours usually I just use a lowest setting, instead of ultra high performance. But now for game under 2007 years, ultra high is just a piece of cake. Initially I still doesn’t want to change for a new one, but recently, the there is a blinking on my LCD when the computer is currently under usage. And the problem is just my graphic card after there is no visual at all.

RAM: original is Corsair 667 1GB x2, and new one still the same. This is because of the lifetime warranty, and both stick has been change since it has a failure.

The HDD: original is Western Digital 160GB and Seagate 320GB. Now are Western Digital 320GB + 500GB, and I still intending to upgrade for another 500GB HDD. This is because I had lost a lot of file since the HDD had been burn without any reason.  Currently, the C drive is 320GB of Windows and application, another just a backup file.

Power Supply: original is just a stock power supply, about 230W. Now is Vantec VAN-400C, which had a peak load of 400W. The original is still keep as backup, but just keeping dust and I really want to throw it inside a dustbin. This is just an intermediate performance, but yet stills not the original stock computer.

The result is a better performance computer, and currently using as a gaming and internet surfing only. No need for rendering, 3D making or using a Photoshop, just a normal computer user. The Windows Experience Index show the number of 5.1, the lacking is just my processor. But I'm never want t change it for the other, just stick as AMD Athlon x2 4600+. For the next real new computer should much more better that currently usage and the target are still not clear yet. Either Mac or Windows, the time will change my thought.
